Renewable Energy Expo Unveils Key-Note Speakers

FREPA event offers renewable expertise from industry leaders

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - March 6, 2009 - TALLAHASSEE, FL - Taking place on March 11th, the Florida Renewable Energy Producers Association (FREPA) will hold its second annual Renewable Energy Expo at the Mary Brogan Museum. This three day event includes a night reception, full day workshop and numerous key-note speakers including industry leaders and government officials. Most notably, Agricultural Commissioner, Charles Bronson will give a key-note address during the special lunch session of the day. Senator Lee Constantine will also be in attendance to give closing remarks at the end of the expo.

Charles Bronson is the number one proponent of renewable energy in the state of Florida, using his agricultural expertise to decrease fossil-fuel dependency. Charles is very adamant in his belief that Florida can be a leader in producing energy from crops, and is highly responsible for the success of the Farm to Fuel initiative. He is also very involved in the 25x25 coalition which envisions providing 25 percent of U.S. consumed energy by using sources like farms and forests. Not only does he manage the largest state Department of Agriculture in the country, he also serves on the Florida Cabinet with the Governor.

“Florida has the potential to lead the nation in the production of bio-fuels thanks to our long growing season, abundant sunshine and ample rainfall,” Bronson said. “Such an industry will decrease our dependence on foreign oil and help keep farm land in Florida.”

Commissioner Bronson’s presentation is only part of the event-filled day, which is packed with many sessions, each laden with their own theme and respective professional speakers. Some of these themes include Clean Energy Technologies, the Federal Stimulus Package on Energy and the new Green Job Market.

Chair of the Committee on Environmental Preservation and Conservation, Senator Lee Constantine will conclude FREPA’s expo by offering insight and knowledge into renewable energy and its place in today’s economy and political system. A leader in the environmental industry, Senator Constantine created the Florida Energy Commission which is now housed in the Governor’s office and is responsible for the renovation of Florida’s Building Code. He also introduced many bills relevant to energy efficiency, environmental preservation and land conservation. He is a strong proponent of renewable energy in Florida and states, “Renewable energy is vital to Florida’s economic and environmental future.”

Through the presentations of these speakers and many more, renewable energy and its great societal benefits will be further explained and explored. Attendees will gain a broader knowledge of renewable energy development, technology and overall economical benefits.
